Haven privacy policy
Haven (“Haven”, “the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a personal journaling, reflection, emotion-tracking, and habit-management application. This Privacy Policy explains how Haven handles information when you use the App.
1. Privacy at a glance
Haven is designed as a local-first, offline application. In the current version, your journal entries, brain dumps, reflections, emotions, emotion intensity, habits, habit history, and optional profile information are stored locally on your device.
- Haven does not require you to create an account.
- Haven does not transmit your journal or personal content to our servers.
- Haven does not use Firebase, analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party advertising services.
- Haven does not request contacts, camera, microphone, location, SMS, phone calls, or other sensitive device permissions.
- Haven does not sell or share your personal information with third parties and does not currently use advertising or personalized advertising.
2. Information you may enter
You may voluntarily enter information to provide Haven’s journaling and personal-planning features. Optional profile information may include your name, gender, and date of birth. You can use Haven in Guest mode without providing it.
You may enter daily journal entries, reflection responses, summaries and intentions, Brain Dump content, personal notes, emotions and their intensity, and habit information including names, categories, schedules, completion records, and historical records. This personal content is stored locally on your device in the current version.
3. How your information is used
The information you enter is used only to provide Haven’s features on your device: displaying your daily planner; saving and displaying journal and Brain Dump content; recording emotions; managing habits and schedules; maintaining completion history; generating personal and PDF reports; personalizing appearance and language; and supporting local backup and restore.
We do not use your journal or reflection content for advertising, profiling, or selling information to third parties.
4. Where your information is stored
The current version stores user-generated content locally on your Android device using local Android storage and a local database. Haven does not require a cloud account or server connection for core journaling, emotion, and habit features. You are responsible for maintaining access to your device and any backups you choose to create.
5. Backup and restore
Haven may provide a local JSON backup and restore feature. A backup is created on your device, and you choose where to save or share it using Android’s system file and document mechanisms. Haven does not automatically upload it to our servers.
If you manually save, copy, email, upload, or share a backup using another app or service, that service may process it under its own privacy policy. Treat exported backup files as personal and potentially sensitive information.
6. PDF reports
Haven can generate PDF reports containing information from your journal, reflections, emotions, habits, and other stored content. PDFs are generated on your device. If you save, print, email, upload, or share a PDF using another app or service, that third party may process it under its own privacy policy.
7. Information we do not currently collect
In the current version, we do not collect or transmit through our own services precise or approximate location; contacts; photos or camera data; microphone or audio recordings; SMS or call information; device address book information; advertising identifiers for advertising purposes; browsing history; information from other applications; payment information; authentication credentials; or journal content and personal reflections through a Haven server.
Haven also does not currently include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
8. Sharing of information
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Haven’s current core functionality does not transmit your personal content to us or third-party service providers. If you voluntarily share an exported backup or PDF using Android or another application, the receiving application or service may process it independently under its own terms and privacy policy.
9. Advertising
The current version of Haven does not display advertisements and does not contain the Google Mobile Ads SDK or other advertising SDKs. Haven may allow advertising in a future version. If advertising or related third-party services are introduced, this policy and applicable Google Play disclosures will be updated before or when that functionality becomes active.
10. Analytics and tracking
The current version of Haven does not use third-party analytics or behavioral tracking services. We do not currently use analytics services to build profiles based on your use of Haven.
11. Data retention
Locally stored Haven data remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall the App, use available data-management features, or remove relevant local data through Android or the App. Exported backups and PDFs remain wherever you save them until you delete them. You are responsible for managing copies you export or share.
12. Data deletion
Haven does not currently require an online account. You can remove locally stored data using the App’s available data-management controls and/or Android’s application-data controls. Uninstalling Haven or clearing its application data may delete locally stored data. Exported backups and PDFs are separate files and are not automatically deleted; delete them from their storage location yourself.
If a future version introduces accounts or server-side storage, this policy will be updated to describe the applicable account and data-deletion procedures.
13. Security
We take reasonable measures appropriate to Haven’s design to protect information handled by the App. The current version minimizes exposure by keeping core user-generated data on the device and avoiding unnecessary network transmission. No electronic storage system can be guaranteed completely secure; protect access to your device using Android’s available security features.
14. Children’s privacy
Haven is a general-purpose personal journaling and habit application and is not specifically directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children through an online service because the current version does not require an online account or transmit user-generated content to our servers. Parents or guardians with a privacy concern may contact us below.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Haven’s features, data practices, or applicable requirements change. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If future features materially change how information is handled, we will update the relevant disclosures accordingly.
